SENSORY ROOMS

Multi-sensory rooms are built in a wide variety of establishments including nurseries, schools, hospitals,  leisure centres, resource centres, community resource centres, psychiatric hospitals and centre’s, private houses and residential homes for elderly people suffering dementia or as a teaching tool for children and adults with specific learning difficulties.

SensoryUK provide sensory rooms that focus on enhancing the senses through special sound and visual effects, tactile experiences, vibration, use of aromas and music in many variations using light and sund innovative technology, whilst creating an sensory environment focused on wellbeing.

A ‘sensory room’ is a place where you are able to completely relax, or interact with  variable interactive switches and controls to change the environment into space, nature, underwater or jungle to mention just a few.

Sensory rooms offer a whole new world of communication, in some cases  for the very first time.

Interactive multi-sensory rooms are used by people of all ages and abilities for relaxation, focused work, stimulation, control, massage, aromatherapy, physiotherapy, reminiscence work, communication and stress release.

Sensory UK offers a complete range of services that guides you through the decision making process, creating environments and providing long-term servicing and training.

white multi- interactive sensory rooms help to develoip life long skills through sensory integragation

The White Room uses light and sound, with white furniture and walls creating a relaxed environment that calms and stimulates individuals although soft relaxing colours can work just as well, for example: cream, pale lilac, soft blue and apple green seem to be the most popular nowadays to make the rooms feel even more inviting.

This therapeutic environment has a proven record with clients with various difficulties from profound and multiple to moderate needs and now mainstream schools and nursing homes are also recognising the resource these rooms provide. The blank canvass of the room is then built up with a colourful pallet of lights as they are projected around the room giving a stunning world of colour and imagination.

(as pictured left) A comfortable area, with white or light coloured walls and continuous floor padding, which are also easier to clean and maintain,  and without the risk of finger traps or trip hazzards.

Relaxing music and gentle vibration through soft pads and seating areas. All combined to create and provide clients with powerful sensory experience

and a valuable tool for carers and teachers working with sensory awareness.

 black multi- interactive sensory rooms

black sensory rooms are ideal for work with visual impairment through sensory integration therapy.

Like the White Room the Black Room also uses light and sound,
the main area of difference is the furniture and walls are black.
The black helps with particular visual problems;
brightly coloured items against a black surface are easier to identify
because the black doesn’t reflect the light.

Ultra Violet light is used extensively within a Black Room

along with UV reactive equipment; this is very helpful for close up one to one work.

This therapeutic environment has a proven record with clients with various

difficulties from profound and multiple to moderate needs.

Mainstream schools are now recognising the value of such a resource. UV paints, shapes, bubbles and fabrics along with the UV art tubes and rods are very popular.

Imagine the Black Room as a darkened theatre where occasionally a glowing hand held object appears as if by magic.

All these combine to provide clients a powerful sensory experience and valuable tool for carers and teachers.

Light Projectors are used in both rooms to add colour, moving light and shapes which are ideal for tracking.
