Nursing Home and Care Homes:
THE AGED and DEMENTIA
Sensory UK design and install Sensory Therapy Rooms specifically for the aged,
people with dementia and challenging behaviours such as agitation, wandering, verbal and physical aggression
DEMENTIA: Strong medications are often used to
treat these behaviours in younger individuals, but in the elderly, the side effects can be
detrimental. Studies have shown that alternative methods such as sensory therapy can reduce
the need for strong medications and improve their wellbeing.
In response to these studies, Sensory UK have designed a sensory room to meet the needs of individuals who may benefit from a sensory therapy environment.
For persons with dementia their world can often very tense so a calming relaxing room would be an ideal place to be.
Sensory Rooms
for the aged are stimulating and relaxing safe environments, that help to enhance sensory impairment with aroma smells, soft relaxing music and lighting, tactile touch with interactive bubble tubes and other specialised equipment Ideal for bahaviour problems. These therepy rooms have be designed through research by Sensory UK with the help of medical professionals.
Unfortunately in most care homes there isn’t always a spare room to install such relaxing equipment so many people lose out. Sensory UK have developed a solution to this problem where there is room to build a modulor or sensory pod.
Mobile Sensory Solutions
Sensory UK aims to make a difference by offering a mobile sensory room for hire, this unit can be used for a day’s relaxation in a calming environment or for a brief insight into a sensory room equipment and the use and benefits this has to offer. The sensory room equipment offers experiences that appeal to the senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste.
Sensory UK is the only company in the UK that provides a mobile sensory room service that meets the needs of evertyone no matter of age or ability.
